When we are talking about the 1:9 ratio, we have no choice but to be smart. Although bravery is an uncommon trait, being brave and dumb is a very dangerous position to be in.
There are more brave people than there are smart people. However, to be brave and smart require uncommon valor.
That's because what everybody has to deal with eventually is fear. Left to its own device, fear can cripple a person; literally. That is why although there are brave and smart people, the real test is how would they react in the face of fear.
Some will cower away. Some will retort with anger. However many I believe will simply freeze.
Therefore, bravery is not an act without fear but an act despite fear.
Note: Here I simply scribble what was told to me. It is 9:40 am and I haven't been sleeping since last night. I am waiting for the moment when my brain goes boink!
